Open Hearts....Open Minds....Open Doors
Music MinistryOur Music Ministry enhances our worship service through singing, instrumentals and dance. It is open to all ages and all talents. There are three choral choirs -- Chancel, Praise Singers and Children's. The Chancel Choir sings in the 11:00 a.m. traditional service; the Praise Singers, along with the Praise Band, perform at the 8:35 a.m. contemporary service; and the Children's Choir performs in the 11:00 a.m. service several times during the year. The Chancel Choir and the Praise Team combine for special services such as our Christmas and Easter services. The children also present a Christmas program. The Praise Band practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 in the sanctuary; the Praise Singers practice on Wednesdays at 6:00 in the sanctuary; and the Chancel Choir practices on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. You do not have to read music or have a wonderful voice to participate in any of the choirs -- we only require a heart that loves the Lord and a person who loves to sing. We also have an interpretive dance team that performs at both services at various times throughout the church year. New members are always welcome regardless of dance ability or age. Dance movements are geared to your ability and age. The Body Dance Troupe practices on Thursdays at 6:15 in the sanctuary. In addition, there is a handbell choir -- the Grace Ringers -- that practices on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. The group plays from time to time during the year, but especially during the holidays. This choir is open to all ages, regardless of musical ability. If you cannot read music, we will teach you. In the past, we have had a Drama Team on special occasions, but we would like to expand the team and make it a multi-generational group of people who have any of the following skills: acting, designing, building and painting sets; sewing, costuming, doing makeup, helping with lighting and sound, etc. If you are looking for an opportunity to be involved, this just might be it. Please watch for more information in the bulletin and the monthly newsletters. |
